Erica MaestasThe John L. Holland Award for an Outstanding Young Professional in the Field of Vocational Guidance and Career Development
Colorado State University Community College of Aurora (CCA) Erica Maestas is graduating from Colorado State University’s Counseling and Career Development program in May 2018 and will begin her work as a Career Advisor with Community College of Aurora (CCA) just before graduation. Erica is passionate about the field of career counseling and is excited to utilize tools such as Career Construction as a young professional. She has developed multiple programs for her college during her internship such as a Graduation Ready series and a sophomore mixer/panel event designed to stimulate brainstorming around establishing experiences before graduation in areas of interest. Both of these programs relied heavily on students guiding their own decisions based on what has and will work for them the best. She has practiced using CCI within classes as well as in her internship experience and has found it to be extremely helpful in allowing students to process through their own Life Design narratives to become more aware of their solutions to issues regarding career paths. Moving into an environment where multi-cultural awareness is imperative to work as a career professional, Erica looks forward to utilizing Life Design and Career Construction to continue serving students through facilitating a place for them to narrate and construct their future career goals. |
